Le Mersenne Zanzibar, Autograph Collection

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I’ve visited Marriott properties across the world. Our two night stay at Le Mersenne for my 60th birthday and our 38th anniversary was fantastic and special. We were upgraded to a Karibu Villa , and when we walked in the bed was decorated with flowers saying happy 60th birthday. The staff—Marianne who answered my e-mails Mbasha head of guest relaitons, Vanessa and Edson who greeted us when we arrived and were always there to help us, Cosmos Shubani in the dining room, the pool staff and especially Chef Aggrey went above and beyond to make our stay special and make us feel like they were there especially to provide us with a memorable experience. We keep kosher, and Chef Aggrey ensured we had specialized meals prepared for us with special attention to all the details to ensure we had gourmet kosher meals. The highlights were friday night when Chef Aggrey and the staff came out singing happy birthday to me with a special desert prepared for us after a wonderful meal, then followed by an unbelievable saturday night 38th anniversary 5 course kosher meal dinner prepared for us by Chef Aggrey and his staff which was served under a canopy with a backdrop of a heart made of flowers in addition to flowers on the sand making a heart, and flower decorated palm trees and a swing around the canopy.. The boat staff especially captain Haji and Farida were extremely nice and took us to a beach and snorkeling. They made sure everyone got a personalized experience. If you want a memorable vacation on a beautiful beach with unbelievable staff the Le Merssenne in Zanzibar is the place for your vaction

As part of our Zanzibar familiarization trip, we had the opportunity to stay one night at Le Mersenne Zanzibar and complete a site inspection the following morning. One thing we really appreciated about this property is that it caters to different budgets. Whether you're looking for a comfortable room or a private villa with its own pool, Le Mersenne offers options that make a luxury-style stay much more accessible than many other resorts. For travelers looking for great value without sacrificing comfort, it's definitely worth considering. The resort operates on a bed & breakfast basis, with additional meal plan options available for guests who prefer more inclusive packages. One unique perk we loved is that guests also receive a complimentary sandbank excursion, which is a fantastic added value and a wonderful way to experience Zanzibar's beautiful coastline. The atmosphere throughout the resort is peaceful and relaxing, making it an ideal choice for couples, honeymooners, and travelers looking to unwind at a slower pace. If you're looking for a quiet escape where you can disconnect and simply enjoy the island, this property delivers that experience well. We were especially impressed by the hospitality of the team. Although we can't remember the name of the wonderful lady who conducted our site inspection, her warmth, professionalism, and genuine passion for the property really stood out. Experiences like that remind us that exceptional service can leave a lasting impression, and the staff truly made us feel welcome. As for the dining, while we found some meals weren't quite to our personal taste, we appreciate that food preferences are highly subjective and may vary from guest to guest. We always encourage travelers to experience it for themselves. As a Marriott Bonvoy property, Le Mersenne offers the consistency and reliability many Marriott guests value, making it a great option for travelers who enjoy staying within the Bonvoy portfolio while exploring Zanzibar. Overall, Le Mersenne Zanzibar is a solid choice for travelers seeking a relaxing, budget-friendly luxury experience with spacious accommodations, beautiful surroundings, and excellent hospitality. While every traveler has different preferences when choosing a resort, we can certainly see this property being a wonderful fit for those looking for comfort, tranquility, and great value.
